That’s a wrap! Last week, food safety professionals from across the industry gathered in North Little Rock, Arkansas, for the 4th annual Fortrex Food Safety Workshop.

As industry standards evolve and consumer expectations rise, the absence of hygienic design is no longer just a liability, it’s a potential food safety crisis waiting to happen. That’s why this year’s theme, hygienic restoration, was both timely and essential.

This year’s Food Safety Workshop consisted of two days of presentations from industry experts, a tour of our facility in North Little Rock, and an update from the FDA. Attendees learned more about the importance of hygienic restoration as we discussed the following topics:

  • Legacy Facility Challenges
  • Crisis Recovery
  • Infrastructure and Equipment Modernization
  • Long-term Asset Management
  • The application of chlorine dioxide

Industry experts offered good, better, and best options for HVAC systems, walls, floors, drains, freezers, conveyances, and more. At the end of the workshop the FDA shared insights on its growing emphasis on hygienic restoration.

With representatives from over 20 companies, the workshop delivered field-tested strategies and innovative solutions for navigating the complexities of hygienic restoration. Great food and great company fostered meaningful connections; relationships that will support facilities as hygienic restoration becomes increasingly critical for preventing contamination, reducing the risk of foodborne illness, and providing safe food for all.
